On November 5th, Jim's Supply Company will join many friends, co-workers, and family members in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation WALK TO CURE DIABETES. Twenty four million Americans are affected by diabetes, which means that most, if not all of you, are personally touched by this disease. A new case is diagnosed every 30 seconds!! JDRF provides more funding for diabetes research than any other private agency in the world with $.85 of every dollar going directly to support diabetes research and education. This year’s local walk goal is $275,000 and with your help we will get there!!
As many of you may already know, Jim’s Supply has long been an ardent supporter of JDRF. Kevin Boylan, one of Jim’s Supply’s Vice-Presidents, suffered from Juvenile Diabetes until his death in 1999. Kevin was involved in an automobile accident and complications associated with being a juvenile diabetic arose. Also, in 2006, Wyatt Hobson, son of our Operations Manager, Daron Hobson, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Wyatt, along with his family, has experienced first hand what it is like to live with Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes. We are happy to say that Wyatt is now 8 years old and doing well. He no longer has to receive frequent injections and is now on an insulin pump as well as a continuous glucose monitor. These devices are truly a miracle of technology and are largely due to JDRF’s efforts. His mealtime insulin is programmed into the pump and he also receives a small amount of insulin continuously all day. He still has around the clock finger pricks and a closely managed diet.
Please join us Saturday, November 5th at Yokuts Park in Bakersfield, CA for the annual JDRF walk! Breakfast is at 7am with opening ceremonies scheduled for 9am. We appreciate any donations! The link to our page is below:

Jim’s Supply recently donated materials for the American Vineyard Foundation’s (AVF) experimental research vineyard at UC Davis.
A leader in maintaining industry progress, the AVF provides the unique opportunity to unify the grape and wine industry through collaborative research efforts. The AVF is a non-profit organization that relies on voluntary industry support for research funding. JSC proudly supports the AVF and we are glad that our donation of materials was of benefit to the organization!
