Jim’s Supply Co. Participates in KGET’s Kern Ag Week

As a proud sponsor of Kern Ag Week, Jim's Supply Co. acknowledges the importance of agriculture to our community. Not only is agriculture a key part of our economy, but it is also essential for sustaining our expanding population.

Jim’s Supply was founded in 1959 by Jim and Doreen Boylan. The company started as a structural steel and pipe supplier, and in 1980, it expanded to include full on-site production of trellising materials.

Jim’s Supply has worked with both domestic and international growers for several decades. We know the unique challenges farmers face, and we are committed to taking care of them by providing custom, long-lasting structures along with essential field supplies, such as harvest and pruning supplies, crop protection, training and tying tools, and much more.

Jim's Supply specializes in the development and manufacturing of trellising systems that help improve crop yields, enhance light distribution, and reduce replacement costs. These trellising components, such as metal stakes and cross arms, are manufactured at our headquarters, right in the heart of Bakersfield.

We believe that Kern Ag Week is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the valuable contributions made by our agricultural community. As a sponsor, we are dedicated to promoting the growth and sustainability of agriculture in Kern County and are committed to providing exceptional service and reliable products to our partners. Whether they need solid trellising systems or crop maintenance supplies, we are here to help farmers flourish.

We are proud to support our grower partners, and we are devoted to helping them succeed. Together, we can ensure a bright and prosperous future for agriculture in our community.

About Our Interviewees

Dan Drake
Vice President, Jim’s Supply Co.

Dan Drake is the vice president of Jim's Supply Company and has been the major driving force behind the business since he joined the company in 1979. Dan was born and raised in Merced County before moving to Bakersfield in 1969. He joined the company in 1979 at an entry-level position after receiving an Ag Business and Marketing degree from Cal State Fresno (GO BULLDOGS!).

A few years later, Jim Boylan funded the purchase of a secondhand rolling former machine from Ohio that produced refrigerator parts. Jim gave the company his confidence that they could transform the machine to manufacture metal grape stakes. This decision was obviously a tremendous success.

Over the decades, Dan became part owner and vice president responsible for the company’s operations in sales, purchasing, production, and logistics. Having dedicated his entire career to growing Jim’s Supply, Dan takes a lot of pride in being part of a team of family and colleagues that has grown Jim’s Supply into one of the largest trellis-based agricultural manufacturers and sales companies.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys cycling, paddleboarding, and snow skiing. His favorite activity is spending time with his wife and family.

Samuel Aldama
Sales Manager, Jim’s Supply Co.

Samuel Aldama is the sales manager at Jim's Supply Company. In 2017, he joined the company as a sales representative with a focus on attracting and sustaining sales growth in the Central Coast, Mexico, and Central and South America.

In his current position as sales manager, his primary objectives are to lead and motivate the sales team to help generate revenue, develop client relationships, and continue the company's growth and success.

Samuel obtained his bachelor of science in economics from the University of California, Merced. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, horseback riding, and playing soccer.
